What types of legal issues are NOT covered?
Employment-related issues for members covered through their jobs are NOT covered.

Are the attorneys local or do I need to drive to Miami?
The home office is in Miami, which is where the advice, document review, letter writing, etc. is handled through phone, fax and mail. If you need your own attorney for possible “formal” representation, than you will be referred to a local attorney. PLP has a network of over 200 attorneys throughout the entire state of Florida. You will not have to drive to Miami.

If you call PLP, how long until someone gets back to you?
If the attorneys are available, the phone call will be handled immediately. If a message needs to be left for the attorneys, it will be returned within a short period of time and always by the end of the day. PLP makes a point of always returning all phone calls on the same day.

When you use PLP, do you talk to an attorney or is it just a paralegal?
PLP is attorney owned and operated. Members deal always with attorneys every step of the way.

Does my plan cover my live-in boyfriend/girlfriend/partner?
PLP covers a live-in boyfriend, girlfriend or any domestic partner.

If I am covered under PLP through my job, can I continue with the PLP program if I leave the job?
Yes. PLP membership is completely portable at the same price. Nothing changes, except payment will be arranged on an individual basis.

Can PLP help me with an existing problem?
Yes. PLP covers any and all existing or ongoing situations.

Do I receive anything for my PLP membership once I join?
Yes. After signing up, you will receive in a couple of weeks by mail your membership card and policy. The membership card has your name and the PLP phone number on it, so you will always know how to get a hold of them.

Will I receive a listing of the attorneys in the network?
No. Anytime you need to use the service you have only one toll-free number to call. If you need your own network attorney, than the PLP home office will do the leg work to contact a local network attorney for you and then provide you with the name and number of that attorney. You may then contact that attorney directly to arrange for a free face-to-face consultation.

What can I do if I am not happy with the network attorney I have been referred to?
Contact the PLP home office immediately. Another referral will be made for you to a different network attorney. This process will be repeated as many times as is necessary until the member and network attorney make the proper connection needed for representation.

How is the free Will handled?
By phone consultation through the home office. The documents are then prepared and sent by mail for execution – a very convenient process. Living Wills and Powers of Attorney are also available.

How is the credit repair handled?
The member should request a free copy of his/her credit report. There are many free online services (i.e. experian.com, freecreditreport.com). Circle the disputed marks and fax it over to PLP. PLP will send letters to the creditors to start the dispute process, which leads to eventual removal of the marks from the report.

How are the discounted fees for formal network attorney representation determined?
The fees are discounted from the normal customary charge for the particular service, based on extensive research done by PLP and its competitors. For example, the normal hourly attorney rate of $150 per hour is discounted to only $70 per hour under PLP (for hourly based fees). Additionally, for most services there is a discounted “flat” rate, which means one reduced price for the entire service from A to Z, no matter how long it takes.

How do I cancel my membership?
Membership may be cancelled at any time simply by contacting PLP by phone or in writing and requesting cancellation. The cancellation will be effective the 1st of the month following the request.
